Wild Smiles covers a range of treatments that are fundamental to maintaining good oral health. To stay on top of your general dental care, it is essential you visit your dentist regularly, check-ups twice a year are recommended.
Our general dentistry services include regular appointments to check the condition of your teeth, gums and overall oral health. During your appointment we will look for signs of gum disease (periodontal disease), tooth decay, cavities, mouth cancer, and advise you on preventative care to maintain your healthy smile. We will also take x-rays of your teeth, either as a general check-up or to investigate a potential problem (there may be a cost if the x-ray is not part of your general check-up).
During your check-up we will perform a basic scale and polish to remove calculus and plaque.
We may advise you to book an Airflow tooth polishing appointment or to see our Hygienist if you have an excessive build-up of plaque or are showing signs of gum disease.
If you have concerns or we spot something that needs further attention, we will make a plan for further treatment.
Whether you’re an existing patient or new to our practice we welcome you to Complete Smiles. We recommend you visit us twice a year so we can help maintain your oral health. If you have a problem that needs emergency care, we offer same day appointments.

Teeth are constantly exposed to a build-up of materials throughout the day. This build-up forms on the teeth as plaque, a substance which not only harbours bacteria, but also produces acid which can erode the teeth’s outer enamel layer.
The bacteria in your mouth is not a risk to your teeth when it is kept at low levels, but not brushing and flossing your teeth regularly means these levels can become damaging. There is also a link between increased oral bacteria and other serious health conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and stroke.
Our Dentists may recommend Dental sealant or fluoride supplements during a check-up, especially for children.
Our Dentists may advise you of Dental sealant or fluoride supplements if they think you would benefit from additional fluoride. This may be done as an in-surgery treatment through the application of fluoride directly to the teeth in the form of a gel. We may also recommend treatments to use at home in the form of a special mouthwash or toothpaste.
The Sealant forms a protective layer that keeps food and bacteria from getting stuck in the tiny grooves in the teeth causing decay.
Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral found in toothpaste, drinking water, and some foods that can help prevent tooth decay. However, if you’re at high risk of cavities, your dentist may also prescribe a special fluoride rinse or gel to use regularly at home.

We strongly recommend flossing and brushing at least twice a day, once in the morning and once at night after meals and before bed. This keeps plaque levels low, especially during sleep, reducing the risk of gum disease and/or tooth decay. As well as daily brushing and flossing, professional dental hygiene and bi-annual check-ups are essential to maintaining oral health.
Teeth can be aligned and guided with the help of various treatments such as orthodontics, porcelain veneers and crowns. Traditional orthodontics using instruments or Invisalign can be completed at any time to align teeth. If orthodontic treatment is not an option, well-aligned teeth can be obtained using porcelain veneers and crowns that can also change the shape of the teeth. Sometimes a person may need a combination of two treatments to achieve the desired results.
Your mouth contains a lot of germs, good and bad. Germs in your mouth are common, but certain types of germs can attach themselves to hard surfaces, such as the enamel that covers your teeth. If it is not removed, germs multiply until a colony is formed. The proteins in your saliva also blend together, and the colony bacterium becomes a white tooth film, known as plaque. This is what makes Cavities.
If you or your partner suffer from breathing difficulties during sleep, such as snoring or obstructive sleep apnoea, you might be pleased to know that dentistry may have a solution for you. A series of oral devices or mouthpieces are now available and can be fitted by a dentist that will address your snoring problems by preventing the lower jaw from dropping back during sleep, thereby preventing the closure of your airways, which will stop you from snoring. Such a custom-made mouthpiece is made from impressions taken of your teeth to ensure they fit you comfortably. Made from hard-wearing plastic, the mouthpiece is worn at night and works by holding the bottom jaw in a slightly forward position. This position opens up your airway significantly allowing you to breathe better and as a result sleep better too. Speak to us today about how your snoring problems can be addressed.
